You wait all year for a Version 6.0 release, and then three come along together... Here's the information for version 6.0.3: we recommend that you update to this version of Scientific Word/WorkPlace/Notebook v6.0 (only takes 3 or 4 minutes):

  1. Welcome back...    to some v5.0/v5.5 users who were about to be removed from the database. We spent an afternoon with Google and tracked down lots of customers whose Email addresses had given us bounce-backs.

  2. Version 6.0.3:    The changes in this v6.0.3 release include:
We're sure perfection is still a little way off: we anticipate there will be v6.0.4 before the end of the summer... Naturally, we'll keep you informed of any developments.

  3. Installation instructions:    We have now created PDF installation instructions for the Scientific Word/WorkPlace/Notebook v6.0 Fixed licences; please go to https://www.sciword.co.uk/v6.0Installation.pdf for those instructions, and relevant links.

  4. Updating from v6.0.1/6.0.2 to v6.0.3:    You do not need to update the TeX Live installation or GhostScript: simply update the program itself.

  5. v6.0.3 download links:    Notice that the v6.0.3 download files are in the same place as the v6.0.1/6.0.2 links, but with 6.0.3 in the file name:

  6. Interruptions:    The contents of your document are written to disk at a regular interval; the default is ten seconds. If your editing session is interrupted for any reason, start up SWP, SW, or SNB again and you will see a dialog that says:
A working directory for the document you selected still exists. This means that your previous editing session may have been interrupted. Do you want to resume editing this previous work instead of starting a new editing session?
If you see this message and click on "Yes, use it", you will see your document as it existed at some time less than ten seconds before the interruption.

  7. New address:    Please note the new postal address on our website. Coincidentally at the same time, BT have enabled us to change our 0845 numbers to the equivalent 0345 numbers, which make no extra charge for callers (ie. free on most tariffs).

Please spread the word that Version 6.0 is here – just click below to send a quick message, and a link, to your friends!
Enjoy version 6.0.3... Maybe now is the time to get the upgrade?

This software is way too good to keep to yourself! Why not tell your friends...

We usually send this mailing to our users every couple of months or so. Please just let us know if you no longer wish to remain on our mailing list.

Cheers,

Christopher
